Question of the Week

How do we allow Jesus to guide our life?

Todays Gospel Readings
John 18:33b-37

Father Andrew's Let's Talk "Heart to Heart"
Let's Talk: "Heart to Heart"

From the history records, we have to admit that the twentieth century, was probably the bloodiest century in human history. During WWI, the Russian Revolution that created an evil empire of the Soviet Union, WWII, and the Cold War with the conflicts in Korea, Vietnam and Afghanistan, human life was put in a spot with diabolical contempt with streams of bloodshed.

However, during this same century, God, through a few events reminded us of His mercy. God ‘tirelessly’ drew us to His Love in which we always can find a sanctuary of peace, courage, endurance and conversion. In 1925 Pope Pius XI established Sunday of Christ the King, which we celebrate today. In the 1920s and 1930s, St. Faustina Kowalska passed on the apparition of Jesus known in the image of “Jesus I trust in You”, that finally effected in establishing the Sunday of Divine Mercy by Pope John Paul II. God allowed the Blessed Virgin Mary to appear in Fatima in 1917 with the message of healing the human hearts.

In 1944, on the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Maximilian Kolbe died in the Nazi’s concentration camp, put to death by starvation. This saint and many like him showed that even in the bottom of hell you can win if you love, laying down your fife for others as Jesus did for all of us. We acknowledge that the blood of saints shed in martyrdom has always been the seed of Christianity.

The Kingdom of Jesus has always been challenged by evil and our sins, but would prevail if it is rooted in our hearts, if we allow Jesus to guide us. So, considering today’s Gospel, we would like to set up the

“Question of the Week.”

“How do we allow Jesus to guide our life”.

God Bless, Fr. Andrew
