The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church

2007 Strategic Plan

The following document details the mission statement and strategic goals that have been adopted by the Presentation Parish Pastoral Council in consultation with our Pastor Father Andrew Koziczuk and in accordance with the 2005 Diocese of Sacramento Synod Pastoral Initiatives.

Presentation Parish Pastoral Council Mission Statement

“The Mission of the Presentation Parish Council is to actively nurture a Christ-centered, community at Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church .  We strive to provide opportunities for all parishioners to experience cultural, social and faith formation events, witness the Good News of Jesus Christ through the Mass and ministry to others, and to work toward investment in the future through stewardship and full participation in the life of our parish.”

Evangelization

“Therefore, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the traditions that you were taught” (2Thess 2:14-15)

Provide opportunities for Adult Faith Formation and a deeper understanding of Scripture, Church History, Spiritual/Prayer growth and Catholic Tradition.

Continue a deep appreciation of our Parish School and foster an active participation of our school families into parish life and promote efforts to sustain our school as a benefit to future generations.

Vocations

“Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant by the laborers are few,”(Mt 9:36-38)

Establish a vocations ministry and develop a pastoral plan to reaffirm the need for prayer, education and discussion of active service to the religious life.

Collaborative Ministry and Shared Responsibility

“Mend your ways, encourage one another, agree with one another, live in peace and the God of love and peace will be with you”  (2 Cor. 13:11)

Provide the laity with opportunities for participation in various parish ministries, pastoral planning, shared responsibility and decision-making.

Provide opportunities to foster and support regional collaboration between parishes, other churches, faith-based and community based organizations.

Eucharist and Sacraments

“Take and eat; this is my body.  Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you, for this is my blood.  (Mt 26:26-28)

Provide, foster and support educational and devotional practices which flow from and lead to the Eucharistic table including Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament

Formation for Lay Ministry and Lay Apostolate

There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit: there are different forms of service but the same Lord: there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone.”  (1Cor. 12:4-7)

Provide to the lay faithful an environment to cultivate a sensibility that all are personally called by God to perform a unique vocation

Youth and Young Adults

“He went down with them and came to Nazareth.  And Jesus advanced in wisdom and age and favor before God and man.” (Lk 2:51-52)

Provide opportunities for the participation of youth and young adults in the liturgy, faith formation and parish life.

Social Service and Social Justice Ministry

“If you wish to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give it to the poor and you will have treasure in heaven.”  (Mt. 19:21)

Provide advocacy for preaching the social teachings of the church in a non-partisan method.

Cultural Diversity

“Although I am free in regard to all, I have made myself a slave to all so as to win over as many as possible.” (1Cor. 9:19-23)

Celebrate the diversity of our parish community and promote opportunities for our parishioners to experience and express a multitude of our cherished Catholic traditions.
